Location: Loomis, CA
Summary
Perform a wide range of optical fabrication operations, including blocking, grinding, de-blocking, edging, core drilling and polishing, to produce quality precision optics. Works from prints and work instructions with minimal supervision.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
By working both independently and as part of a team, we will rely on you to be responsible for some or all of the following duties:
- Block, grind, de-block, edge and core-drill as assigned
- Perform polishing operations as assigned and continue to develop polishing skills
- Perform visual inspections of optics for defects related to fabrication
- Complete Traveler & Job Log completely and thoroughly daily
- Keep equipment and work area clean
- Follow the company’s Quality Management System (QMS) per ISO 9001:2015
- Other duties as assigned
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 1+ year of hands-on experience in precision optical fabrication (blocking, grinding, edging, core drilling and/or polishing)
- Good written, verbal and interpersonal skills
- Strong background in mathematics including fractions, ratios, unit conversions, decimal arithmetic, percentages, and geometry
- Must be able to accurately use digital measurement devices such as micrometers, calipers, height gages, collimators and other measurement equipment as required
- Must be able to read and interpret print/blueprint and drawing specifications
- Ability to maintain workflow in a dynamic environment
- Ability to organize and prioritize multiple jobs daily
- Work independently and be able to function as part of a team
- Working knowledge of computers and MS Office (Word and Excel), including opening, creating and filling in files
- Willingness to learn manufacturing and ERP software used in production; training will be provided
- Excellent manual dexterity, hand/eye coordination and attention to detail
- Ability to understand and follow all safety requirements and cautions
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to walk and sit; and frequently required to stand, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. May occasionally be required to lift 10–50 pounds and frequently lift up to 10 pounds. Special vision requirements include close, color vision, depth perception and the ability to focus. Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to work near toxic or caustic chemicals; and regularly required to work in wet or humid conditions (non-weather), and near moving mechanical parts. Manufacturing environment; loud noise.
