High Reflector Coating (HR)
High-reflection (HR) coatings work the opposite way to antireflection coatings. The general concept is usually based on the periodic layer system composed from two materials, one a high index and the other a low index material. This periodic system significantly enhances the reflectivity of the surface in the certain wavelength range called band-stop, whose width is determined by the ratio of the two indices (for quarter-wave system), while the maximum reflectivity is increasing nearly up to 100% with a number of layers in the stack.

Anti-Reflection Coating (AR)
This type of Optical coating when applied to the surface of a substrate reduces reflection and minimizes light loss thus improving contrast of the image due to the elimination of stray light. Application can be found on optical lenses, eye glasses, cover window or display glasses, photographic lenses and other application that requires maximum light transmission.
- Single Layer AR : The simplest form of AR coating where the index of a single QW thickness of the transparent dielectric material is the square root of the substrate’s refractive index. MgF2 is the most popular low index material which performs better on high index glass substrates.
- V-coat AR : Type of AR coating which is normally narrow and reflectance curve is shaped like a letter V with the lowest reflectance occurring at the design wavelength. Mostly used in Laser coating or any monochromatic light application.
- Dual Band AR : Type of AR coating where transmission is optimized at 2 wavelength of interest. Normally used in Laser application.
- Broad Band AR : Type of AR coating which covers a wide wavelength range. Normally used in display windows.
Band Pass Filter
Bandpass filters isolate specific regions of the spectrum, simultaneously providing high transmission of desired energy, and deep rejection of unwanted energy. Available in wide or narrow bandwidths, they can be tailored to suit your specific requirements.

Dichroic
Type of filters which blocks or rejects a specified wavelength range and transmits another. Examples of Dichroic filter are the Long and Short Wave Pass filter. An example of Long-Wave Pass filter is a Cold Mirror used to cool a Projection System by letting Infra Red (in form of heat) to pass through the filter. An example of a Short-Wave Pass filter is a Hot Mirror that transmits visible light and reflects the heat. Both filters are made from non absorbing materials to remain comparatively cool.
